Scores of women devotees on Thursday initiated the process of preparing mutyala talambralu for Sitarama Kalyanam slated for April 14 at the historic Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam.

Spiritual exuberance and gaiety marked the ritual coinciding with the grand celebration of Holi festival at the temple shrine.

A colourful dolotsavam (the swing ritual) and Unjal Seva among other special rituals were held on the premises of the temple complex on the occasion of Vasanthotsavam.

Clad in traditional attire, scores of women devotees formally began the elaborate process of making turmeric paste using traditional grinding tools. They later mixed the natural pearls with rice laced with turmeric, saffron, vermilion, sandalwood and other aromatic ingredients under the direct supervision of a host of Vedic pundits.

The entire temple complex including Nitya Kalyana Mandapam and Chitrakuta Mandapam resonated with chants extolling the presiding deity of the shrine during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the temple authorities have made necessary arrangements to prepare adequate quantity of mutyala talambralu , the essential ingredients meant for the next month’s celestial wedding to be held on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami festival.
