Union membership fee to be ₹1

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced his decision to bring down the membership fee paid by the workers of TRS-backed TBGKS to ₹1.

The Chief Minister wondered how the workers were being asked to pay ₹20 by other unions all these years. “With over 53,000 workers, the membership fee totals to more than ₹13 lakh. Fleecing of workers this way should stop,” he said. He assured them of convening a meeting of the officials concerned and employees soon to identify the problems they faced so that remedial measures could be initiated.

Mr. Rao announced a holiday for SCCL on April 14, coinciding with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary and said that the government would organise official celebrations. The management would be asked to explore options to ensure that workers engaged in underground mines were brought into open cast mines after putting in certain experience.
