The frequent deterioration and restoration of the city roads has paved way for a study to find a long-term solution to the civic problem.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) along with JNTU-Hyderabad will take up a three-month study on certain stretches which are often damaged in Greater Hyderabad. The study will ascertain the reasons for the formation of potholes and solutions needed to prevent them.

The total cost of the study is expected to be ₹50 lakh. The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide 50% funding while the rest will be contributed by the GHMC.

The study will cover a length of 400 km with a focus on water stagnation points. The team that will conduct the study will include engineering students and officials from GHMC.
