An Uber cab driver accused of making indecent gestures at a woman passenger, while taking her from Kondapur to the airport in Shamshabad, was arrested by the Madhapur police on Saturday.

The accused, Daadi Praveen Kumar, was presented before the local court and remanded in judicial custody. The complainant, a marketing employee from Delhi, recently moved to Hyderabad, having joined a new company.

On Thursday, around 7 a.m., she started for Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to catch a Delhi-bound flight and boarded the taxi.

Soon after entering the ORR from the bustling Kondapur locality, the 27-year-old driver started behaving strangely. He made some indecent gestures and began staring at her. Even as the passenger felt uncomfortable, he started masturbating while driving the car. The woman shouted at him and forced him to stop the car. She got out of the vehicle, got into another cab and reached the airport. On reaching Delhi, she lodged a complaint with the local police there.

Subsequently, she complained online to the Cyberabad police. On receipt of the mail from the woman, the Madhapur police rushed to the Uber office, collected details of the car driver.

He was arrested from his house in Hafeezpet.
