Two thieves held in city

An engineering student was held on charge of stealing cars from parking lots of pubs and shopping malls by misguiding the valet parking security. Two Verna and one BMW 320D cars, all worth Rs. 56 lakh, were recovered from him.

The arrested man T. Suman (21) studying B. Tech final year at private college in Banjara Hills took away a black Verna car from Bottles and Chimneys Pub at Begumpet, a white colour Verna from Heart Cup Coffee parking and BMV 320D car from Hotel Daspalla, Road No 36 in Jubilee Hills, the police said.

“Suman collected the keys of the cars from valet parking staff after misleading them and drove away. He would then replace the original vehicle number plates with fake ones and moved around in the cars,” Additional Inspector Jubilee Hills K. Muthu said.

Chain-snatcher held

A chain-snatcher allegedly involved in theft cases was caught by the Osmania University police on Monday. The police seized 10 gold chains, a pulsar motorcycle and a mobile phone all worth Rs. 9 lakh at his instance.

The arrested person, Mohd. Jahangeer alias Parvez Baba (29), of Mamidpally on city outskirts moved around in different areas and snatched gold chains from women. He was caught during vehicle checking at Habsiguda by the police. Jahangeer was earlier arrested by the police on similar charges.
