A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped at an isolated spot in Neknampur in Narsingi here on Friday evening, police said.

The accused, Dubba Srinu and Praveen alias Yakub, both labourers from Puppalaguda, were arrested by the police.

Narsingi inspector G.V. Ramana Goud said the offence took place around 5 p.m. at Ashok Reddy mango farm in Neknampur. The duo took her to the farm.

“The accused consumed liquor along with the victim, before forcing themselves on her,” he said.

The offence came to light after the mango farm watchman, Veerababu, saw the accused sexually assaulting the victim and alerted his employer, who in turn informed the police about the same, the inspector said.

“ Soon after getting the information, we rushed to the spot and arrested Srinu, while Praveen managed to flee,” Mr. Goud said, adding that later in day Praveen was also taken into custody.

The victim was shifted to a hospital in the area for medical examination.

Following a complaint lodged by the 26-year-old victim, a case under section 376 (D) of IPC was registered against the accused, who will he remanded in judicial custody, Mr. Goud added.
