Two killed in separate road accidents

A woman was killed on the spot after an autorickshaw hit the motorcycle she was riding pillion near Gandhinagar under Jeedimetla police station on Saturday night.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m. when Sompalli Mercy Joy and her husband Sompalli Mariyani Swami were returning home in Kukatpally, after attending a wedding at IDPL.

“When they reached Gandhinagar, an autorickshaw knocked their bike from behind. As a result, the couple fell off the bike and sustained injuries,” said inspector P Ramana Reddy.

The woman was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

In another accident, a 30-year-old man working at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was crushed to death by a TSRTC bus, even as his mother watched it, in Nedunur village under Kandukur police station.

The victim was identified as K Naga Srinivas Rao. He had migrated to Nedunur village from Machilipatnam two years ago.

According to Kandukur inspector E. Jangaiah, the accident took place around 12.45 p.m. on Saturday, when the man and his mother were crossing the main road for an ATM on the other side.

The bus was proceeding to Hyderabad from Achampet village. Vehicle driver Mudavath Praveen (23) was taken into custody.
