Two persons were arrested by the Hayathnagar police on Thursday for attempting to rob a man of ₹10 lakh. The accused were identified as Saidireddy and K. Sujatha, who, along with one Ramu, tried to rob K. Bhasker Reddy at Anjanadri Nagar. The latter was attacked with chilli powder and stones, a police official said.
Their attempt was unsuccessful as Mr. Bhasker Reddy managed to inform the police. He had gone to an isolated spot with the cash to exchange it for banned currency notes, about which his friend named Narsimha Reddy had told him about. Mr. Bhasker Reddy was told that he would be paid a commission of ₹2 lakh for it.
He went to Anjanadri Nagar anticipating the exchange, but was attacked instead. A case has been registered and the police are on the hunt to arrest the other accused.
Property offender held
The Abid Road police arrested a man and recovered property worth ₹4.5 lakh from him. The accused, who is notorious for stealing laptops, was identified as Shaik Ibrahim, a resident of Tolichowki. He was also involved in around 15 cases under different police station limits in Hyderabad. Officials also arrested one Mohammed Ismail, who had received the stolen property, which included laptops and gold ornaments.
Two arrested
Two men, who tried to burgle a house, were arrested by the Meerpet police and property worth ₹4 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments, was recovered from them. The accused were identified as P. Ramesh, an autorickshaw driver, and P. Kumar, his brother-in-law.
According to Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, Ramesh was involved in various offences like house burglaries and automobile thefts, reported under various police station limits in the city. He was also convicted and released from Cherlapally jail in 2016.
Ramesh was staying with Kumar at Sithaphalmandi after that, and together they committed six burglaries.
Liquor shops closed
In view of Holi, all wine and toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants (excluding bars in star hotels and registered clubs) within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have been ordered to remain closed from 6 p.m. on March 11 till March 13 by Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy.
One-way traffic
In view of the heavy water leakage near Musheerabad crossroads, traffic will flow only one way for the next three days beginning Friday. Traffic coming from Kawadiguda, Gandhi Hospital, and RTC crossroads and going towards Padmarao Nagar will be diverted to Gandhi Hospital and Metro Cafe. Traffic coming from Padmarao Nagar towards Musheerabad signal will run its usual course.
