Surya Teja, purported boyfriend of TV artiste S. Naga Jhansi who allegedly committed suicide, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Panjagutta division Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said that Teja was produced in Nampally Criminal Courts and has been sent to judicial remand. He added that a case of abetment to suicide has been booked against him.
Mr. Kumar said that Jhansi and Teja began to have differences, after which he stopped taking her calls and responding to her messages.
He then allegedly blocked her on his phone. This, Mr Kumar said, resulted in the victim going into depression.
Police will soon seek Teja’s custody so that he can be interrogated.
Naga Jhansi, who worked in the TV series Pavitra Bandhan , allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on February 5. She was found by her brother, who then alerted the police.
