The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee on Thursday condemned Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s statements on the functioning of the transport juggernaut and its unions.
TSTRC JAC leaders K Raji Reddy, Thomas Reddy and O Sudha, apart from others, demanded an apology from the CM.
They said that it is unfortunate that Mr Rao is unaware of the fact that scores of employees have been working for as much as 14 hours.
Touching upon profitability of the TSRTC, they said that buses are profitable on a majority of routes and that it is operations in rural areas which are the problem.
Disputing the Chief Minister’s claim of government giving the TSRTC about ₹4,000 crore, they said that only ₹700 crore was received. They maintained that they did not receive arrears.
Accusing the Chief Minister of trying to create a rift between unions, they rejected the possibility that employees would report to duty on Friday and assured all staff that there is no reason to be concerned about their job.
The striking employees reiterated that the strike is legal and vowed to intensify the strike.
