TSRTC JAC leaders intensified their agitation on Sunday as their strike entered the 30th day, by staging a dharna in the town and forming a human chain. They flayed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for threatening RTC employees by giving the November 5 deadline.
They protested in front of the Karimnagar bus depot and later, formed a human chain at the main entrance and raised slogans against KCR. Reiterating that they would not call off their strike till the government fulfilled their demands, the protesters set fire to copies of a vernacular daily alleging false reporting on RTC strike.
Meanwhile, former legislator and BJP leader Bodige Shobha and others paid tributes to RTC employees who had committed suicide and died of various ailments during the strike at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial in Karimnagar town.
CPM district secretary Mukund Reddy and CITU secretary Bandari Shekhar sought public support by distributing pamphlets in RTC buses. They demanded an ex gratia of ₹50 lakh to the bereaved family of RTC driver N. Babu, along with a 2BHK house and three acres of land.
