Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has filed a petition with Chairman of the Legislative Council K. Swamy Goud seeking disqualification of four MLCs of TRS who, according to the party, have defected to the Congress during the recent Assembly elections for their personal gains.

Chief Whip of TRS in the Legislative Council Pathuri Sudhakar Reddy and Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy called on the Chairman in his office on Monday and formally lodged the petition seeking disqualification of MLCs R. Bhoopathi Reddy, Konda Muralidhar Rao (Murali), K. Yadava Reddy and S. Ramulu Naik for their defection to the Congress party.

According to officials, the first three persons term as MLCs would come to an end in 2021 and the last one in 2020.

Mr. Bhoopathi Reddy and Mr. Murali were elected to the Council from Local Authorities' Constituencies, Mr. Yadava Reddy was elected from Assembly Constituencies in the Council while Mr. Ramulu Naik was nominated.

Mr. Bhoopathi Reddy contested as the Congress candidate in the recent Assembly elections from Nizamabad (Rural) constituency, while Mr. Murali's wife contested on Congress ticket from Parkal in Warangal (Rural) district and lost the election at the hands of TRS candidates. The two other MLCs also joined the Congress during the run-up to the Assembly elections.

Speaking after meeting the Council Chairman, the TRS Whips said all the four MLCs had violated the party guidelines.

Copies of their statements published in newspapers while defecting to Congress and video clippings were also submitted along with the petition seeking their disqualification, they noted.
