Opposition parties are scared of facing people, says the Minister

Industries and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao has asserted that the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti is prepared to face elections at any time and wondered why the Opposition parties are scared of facing people.

He said clarity would emerge on the advancement of the polls only after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao makes an announcement in this regard and there is no scope for any speculations on the issue till that time.

Mr. Rama Rao took strong exceptions to the remarks reportedly made by Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy that huge money was distributed among the MLAs and other leaders for the conduct of Pragati Nivedana Sabha, the proposed massive public meeting on September 2 to explain the achievements of the TRS government in the past four-and-a-half years.

Arrangements reviewed

Mr. Rama Rao, who inspected the arrangements that are being made for the successful conduct of the meeting at Kongarakalan, said the proposed public meeting would be the first of its kind not only in the State but across the country to be organised by any political party or organisation. “The TRS has convened several public meetings successfully since its inception 17 years ago. But the Pragati Nivedana Sabha will be the other of all such meetings with attendance of around 25 lakh,” he said.

Extensive arrangements are being made for the public meeting on the instructions of the Chief Minister and the meeting is being organised on a sprawling 2,000 acre land.

Of this, the meeting alone would cover an extent of 500 acre and other arrangements like parking, drinking and toilets would be made on the remaining 1,500 acre. Arrangements are being made to lay new approach roads for easy access to the meeting venue while steps had been initiated to put up medical camps for the benefit of those attending the meeting.
