To be conducted between December 22 and 24

With a view to gear-up the party for the forthcoming gram panchayat elections, although they are contested on non-party basis, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has decided to hold party workers meetings in all Assembly constituencies from December 22 to 24 with focus on enrolment of all eligible voters.

The decision was taken at a meeting held by party working president K.T. Rama Rao with general secretaries of the party here on Tuesday.

According to party functionaries, Mr. Rama Rao pointed out umpteen instances of voters not finding their names in the electoral rolls, across the State, in the just-concluded election to the State Legislative Assembly.

Missing names

The meeting was of the opinion that the majority secured by several candidates of the party would have been much higher had there been no missing names in the electoral rolls.

As many voters having electoral photo identity cards (EPIC), issued by the Election Commission, did not find their names in the rolls, the party has decided to address the issue.

It was decided that the party would take up the matter with the Election Commission to rectify the electoral rolls and also to take up a campaign to create awareness among people to enrol their names from December 26 this year to January 6 next.

A team of party general secretaries headed by M. Srinivas Reddy would represent the matter of missing names in electoral rolls to the Election Commission.

Party office buildings

Construction of the party offices in all districts was also discussed at the meeting. It is stated that identification and acquisition of land for the party offices was already completed and construction would be taken up once the designs were finalised by party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The party is planning to start construction of its district offices at least from January first week.

Party leader and Member Legislative Council Palla Rajeshwar Reddy stated that the constituency level meetings of the party would be attended by its secretaries and general secretaries concerned.
