A team of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Members of Parliament called on Union Minister for Water Resources, Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Nitin J. Gadkari in New Delhi on Tuesday and requested him to expedite issuance of permission and clearances to several irrigation projects in the State, including the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

MPs B. Vinod Kumar, K. Kavitha, G. Nagesh, Dr. B. Narsaiah Goud and others, led by A.P. Jithender Reddy, told Mr. Gadkari that the delay in issuance of clearances was not only delaying the intended benefits of the projects but was also leading to increase in the cost of projects such as Sita Rama and Palamuru-Rangareddy. According to TRS leaders, Mr. Gadkari assured them of calling for a meeting with all the officials concerned on December 21. Later, they represented Telangana’s request for sanctioning Regional Ring Road project and other pending NH projects. Four-laning of Mahabubnagar-Jadcherla road, which was pending due to election code of conduct, was cleared on Tuesday, with an assurance to take up the process of tenders at the earliest.

Environmental clearance

On Monday, they had met Union Minister for Environment and Forests Harsh Vardhan and requested him to speed up the process of issuance of environmental clearance to Sita Rama, Palamuru-Rangareddy and other projects.
