The Ibrahimpatnam MLA, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, whose name surfaced in the alleged land issues related to the murder of Abdullapurmet Tahsildar Vijaya Reddy, has alleged that Congress leader Malreddy Ranga Reddy and his kin were in fact the beneficiaries of the land.

At a press conference here, he said he would meet Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeking an inquiry into the land issue. He said Mr. Ranga Reddy and his family had bought the land related to Suresh, the accused in the officer’s murder case.

He also showed documents claiming that Mr. Ranga Reddy’s family had registered the land without the passbooks and demanded that an inquiry into 412 acres of land in four survey numbers to bring out the truth. The market value of the entire land is around ₹100 crore now.

He said Mr. Ranga Reddy was jealous of him as he lost three elections against him. He denied allegations that he had taken ₹30 lakh for settlement of these lands and said as a public representative, he had taken the Gourelli villagers to the then Joint Collector after they claimed rights on the land. Stating that Vijaya Reddy’s murder was unfortunate, he said the investigation would help catch the real culprits. He said he preferred to remain silent as a mark of respect to the deceased, while Mr. Ranga Reddy had made severe allegations against him even at the funeral.
