Former Minister D.K. Aruna accused Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the TRS government of misappropriating public money for replacing old buildings with the new ones.

Referring to the government’s move to build a new Assembly and Secretariat building, she said the effort was a sheer waste of money. Alleging that Mr. Rao was running a one-man show, she called upon people to defeat the TRS in the forthcoming municipal elections.

Launching the BJP membership drive here on Sunday, she said the entire world was looking at India for the progress it was making on all fronts under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Appreciating the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Lok Sabha on Friday, she said the former gave priority to all sections in her budget.

Turmeric board

As regards the BJP’s promise of establishing a turmeric board in the district, she said the matter would be looked into by party MP Dharmapuri Arvind.

She thanked the people of the constituency for defeating TRS candidate K. Kavitha as that would be a good lesson for the ruling party in the State.

Ms. Aruna alleged that the TRS and Ms. Kavitha were not taking any interest in the development of Nizamabad city. Later, Ms. Aruna handed over the first membership slip to Dalit woman Galipalli Ratna and the second one to a Muslim, Ajmeera Begum.

Party national executive member Yendala Laxminarayana, State executive members Dhanpal Suryanarayana and Baswa Laxminarsaiah, district president Palle Ganga Reddy and city president Y. Sudhakar were also present.
