Some 10 TRS leaders, one journalist and one social worker joined the Congress in the presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi on the dais after his address in the public meeting here on Saturday.

Former MLA B. Janardhan Goud (Yellareddy), Rahim Saifi (Nizamabad), Juvvadi Narsing Rao (Korutla) and Medapati Prakash Reddy (Bodhan) were among those who joined the Congress. Senior scribe Jamalpur Ganesh and Gulf Telangana Welfare and Cultural Association president Patkuri Basanth Reddy also joined the party.

Speaking to The Hindu Mr. Saifi said that people were vexed and unhappy with the TRS rule as it did not keep even a single major promise made during the last elections.

“We have taken Congress membership voluntarily and unconditionally for ending undemocratic governance,” the former MLA added.
