TRS ally MIM was against TS, says Uttam

‘Didn’t TRS become anti-TS force when it forged alliance with TDP in 2009?’

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked when Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) can ally with the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) that opposed formation of Telangana till 2014, what is its objection when Congress has an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) that supported Telangana.

Ridiculing the objections raised by the caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he asked, “Didn’t the TRS become anti-Telangana force when it forged alliance with TDP in 2009?”.

“People are seeing through your (Mr. Rao’s) game and you can’t rely in stoking the Telangana emotions for ever” the TPCC chief added. Mr. Reddy, who was speaking at the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee's executive meeting on Friday, also reminded that Mr. Rao himself had claimed after dissolving the Assembly that Congress-TDP alliance would not affect him as TRS would get 50% votes. “Now sensing a humiliating defeat, you (Mr Rao) are targeting the alliance.”

The TPCC chief said that Mr. Rao wants to win Assembly elections with the support of Muslims and shift his loyalties to BJP in the Lok Sabha polls. However, his cheap tactics would remain buried. "All sections have realised that you are a habitual liar,” he said.

‘It was a fake fast’

Showing the medical reports of Mr. Rao’s fast at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, he said the fast-unto-death was fake as he was administered supportive IV Fluids with alimentation and multi-vitamins through injection. “There was no risk to his life,” he said and reminded that civil rights activist Irom Chanu Sharmila had survived for 16 years with the same medicines.

He said Mr. Rao staged the “drama of fast” afraid of backlash from Osmania University students after taking juice in Khammam hospital. All he had done was just to grow beard in NIMS, he alleged.

Mr. Reddy stuck to his battebaaz remark and said in Telangana cheaters are called by that name. “But the personal remarks on bringing my parents by Mr. Rao shows his frustration level. I was a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force unlike Mr. Rao who was known to be a broker sending people to Dubai with fake passports and visas,” he said.

He said while the previous Congress government had developed Hyderabad as a global city from 2004-2014 with Outer Ring Road, PVNR Expressway, International Airport, Metro Rail, flyovers and other infrastructure, the TRS did not add a single project to the city.
