The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) researchers have completed geophysical exploration at the foothills of Naubath Pahad in Vidyaranya School Campus on Friday.

The officials said that a thorough report on the geophysical exploration would be submitted to the Archaeology Department next week.

On Friday, officials said that the NMDC team had concluded all the required studies at the site and by middle of next week; the researchers would be able to submit their report. All through Friday, the NMDC officials continued with their studies at Naubath Pahad and ANGRAU Home Science College.

With ICSE exams to begin from Monday at Vidyaranya School, archaeology officials have clarified that the examinations will not be disturbed at any cost. Authorities criticised and brushed aside the arguments that the ongoing explorations at Naubath Pahad are endangering the Birla Mandir.

Loose soil

The archaeology officials pointed out that the site, which was claimed by construction workers in an affidavit to have a treasure trove, is based on loose soil.

Meanwhile, the A.P. State Remote Sensing Application Centre has provided high-resolution satellite images of Naubath Pahad and its environs to the Archaeology Department officials. The images of the site, which have been passed on to NMDC researchers, have been taken from the IKONOS and Geoeye satellites, officials said. The authorities have also decided to make arrangements to provide round-the-clock security at Naubath Pahad to prevent disruptive elements from gaining access to the site.
