400 KV sub-station at Chandlapur in Siddipet district becomes functional

A 400 KV sub-station of the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TS-Transco) was inaugurated by Chairman and Managing Director of the power utility, D. Prabhakar Rao, at Chandlapur in Siddipet district on Monday. The sub-station is established to supply power to the pump house there which would help lift water to Mallannasagar.

The pump house would have four motors with a capacity of 134.8 MW each to lift water for about 110 meters height to allow the flow into Mallannasagar. Water from Mid Manair reservoir would reach Ranganayakasagar after travelling through another online reservoir at Ananthagiri. Chandlapur pump house would draw water from Ranganayakasagar.

The TS-Transco has established a dedicated 400 KV sub-station at Chandlapur to meet the energy demand of the pump house there. Mr. Prabhakar Rao examined the power supply and other works after inaugurating the control room along with Engineer-in-Chief of Kaleshwaram project B. Hariram, Joint MD C. Srinivasa Rao, Directors J. Surya Prakash, T. Jagath Reddy and B. Narsing Rao and others officials of the Transco. He examined the power lines laid for operation of the motors, the ongoing work of erecting motors and tunnels of the pump house. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhakar Rao said the Transco had established dedicated sub-stations at 15 pump houses since the capacity of motors for lifting of water is very high and not used anywhere in the country. Further, he stated that the Transco had established the 15 dedicated sub-stations to supply about 5,000 MW power to Kaleshwaram project with a cost of about ₹2,890 crore. The sub-station at Chandlapur was established with an investment of ₹345 crore and it is the 101st extra high voltage (EHV) sub-station to be set up after formation of the State.
