Tractor driver killed in freak accident


A tractor driver was killed when his vehicle overturned at Pahadishareef on Monday morning. N Mahesh, 28, of Mamidpally, was towing a water tank to Wadi-E-Mustafa in Shaheennagar when he applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting a stay dog. “As Mahesh applied the brakes, the vehicle overturned. He came under it and died on the spot,” Pahadishareef SI, P Krishna said.

52 minors counselled

‘She teams’ of the city police on Monday organised counselling for 52 minors who were caught for allegedly harassing women at public places. A team of six professional psychologists along with 15 representatives of an NGO counselled the minors and their parents. Short films were also screened as part of the exercise.

1.3-kg. gold seized

Customs officials seized 1.3 kilogram of gold ornaments from a woman passenger at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Monday morning. The woman, who arrived from United Arab Emirates, was carrying gold ornaments in her baggage and failed to disclose it to the officials.

hoax bomb calls

The Commissioner’s Task Force (South) team on Monday caught a man who made hoax bomb calls to different government offices resulting in panic. The accused, who earlier stayed in UAE and Nepal, called up the police control room last month and told that bombs were placed in the High Court. The police traced him with the help of Call Data Record. He reportedly told the police that he was depressed as his family was staying in Nepal, and called up control room in an inebriated state.
