Thundershowers predicted in Hyderabad

Weathermen have predicted thunderstorm activity during early part of this week in the city that is likely to keep temperatures from rising to the highs witnessed two weeks ago.

With pre-monsoon season having set in, the city recorded maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday. India Meteorological Department did not predict a temperature rise over the next two days but forecast thundershowers on Sunday. According to Skymet Weather, moist winds are blowing over Telangana due to this system that is responsible for the cooling activity during later part of the day. The city however is yet to see heavy rainfall for May the likes of which was experienced last year.

In other parts, however, continued to sizzle with Adilabad recording maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius. Ramagundam and Nizamabad recorded over 43 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad usually witnesses its summer high during the last two weeks of May. Meanwhile, the State Government is examining at least 100 deaths that were reportedly due to heatwave like conditions in different parts of the State to be considered for compensation.
