Thief posing as ‘morning walker’ arrested

Syed Mohsin would lay in wait and join other morning walkers to avoid detection, before walking away with the booty

January 01, 2015 12:11 am | Updated 12:11 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Thieves adopt different methods to escape after committing an offence, but here is a burglar who poses as a morning walker so that he is not caught!

After burgling a house, Syed Mohsin (33) would stay put at some place and wait till some walkers come out of their houses and join them. After walking along with them for some time, he would make good his escape .

“Without arousing anyone’s suspicion that he had burgled a house just a few hours before, he calmly walks away with the booty to his house,” North zone DCP G. Sudhir Babu said on Wednesday. Mohsin was caught 10 days ago at Pot Market in Secunderabad while the police was frisking suspects.

During interrogation, he admitted to the police that he had been breaking into houses for the past 15 years and in last one year burgled 12 houses in Secunderabad. Mohsin was also arrested earlier by the police and served jail terms. “He is addicted to playing game of cards and spent most of the money accrued through sale of the stolen property on it,” the DCP said. After taking him into custody, the Mahankali police special team led by Sub-Inspector M.S.V. Kishore recovered half kilo of stolen gold jewellery.
