Telangana junior medicos protest compulsory rural posting

The staged a dharna at the Directorate of Medical Education at Kothi in Hyderabad on Wednesday when counselling for giving them postings at the directorate began.

Junior doctors staged a dharna at the Directorate of Medical Education at Kothi in Hyderabad on Wednesday protesting against the compulsory one-year rural posting for post-graduate medicos serving in teaching hospials of Telangana.

Wednesday was the first day of counselling for giving postings to the junior doctors at the directorate. In fact, the venue for counselling was changed from Gandhi Medical College to the directorate in anticipation of trouble by the medicos. The venue was changed in order not to cause hardship to patients at the Gandhi Hospital which shared a common campus with the hospital.

The medicos in teaching and tertiary hospitals boycotted their duties from Tuesday in protest against the rural service clause in counselling.
