TDP, YSRCP lodge complaints against each other

The ruling Telugu Desam Party and Opposition YSR Congress lodged complaints against each other with the Election Commission here on Tuesday pointing out the alleged violation of poll code by the rival party in the by-election to Nandyal Assembly constituency, polling for which is scheduled on Wednesday.

In two complaints lodged with Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, TDP leaders Konakalla Narayana Rao, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) and Palle Raghunatha Reddy alleged that Sakshi newspaper and television channel had committed electoral offence by violating model code of conduct by telecasting a live show on Tuesday morning defaming TDP and its national president N. Chandrababu Naidu and propagating for YSR Congress.

Further, the alleged that the newspaper had also published several false reports and alleged code violation by ministers who campaigned for the TDP candidate. In one more complaint, the TDP leaders alleged that an outlet run by a cooperative society belonging to the YSR Congress contestant had sold consumer goods for nominal prices to bribe and influence the voters against TDP.

On the other hand, YSR Congress leaders G. Srikanth Reddy and others lodged a complaint with Mr. Bhanwar Lal alleging that several TDP leaders from other parts of Andhra Pradesh were still camping in Nandyal even after the completion of campaigning.

They also sought action against ABN channel for telecasting a survey on the election, overlooking the poll panel guidelines.
