Speakers at a round-table meeting on “Conspiracies on Hyderabad – Section 8 of APRA” alleged that the leaders of Seemandhra, particularly those of Telugu Desam Party, have brought Section 8 onto the scene now as part of their conspiracy to scuttle development of Telangana and to exploit Hyderabad further.

Secretary general of Telangana Rashtra Samithi K. Keshava Rao observed that the talk on Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act is aimed at both diverting people’s attention from the cash-for-vote case in which several TDP leaders are involved and to derail the development of the newly-formed Telangana State.

He suggested the TDP leaders to stop speaking on Section 8 without any understanding of it as it would not save the culprits in the cash-for-vote case.

The TRS MP explained that Section 8 institutes both responsibilities and powers in the Governor, if the situation warranted.

“Seemandhra people can avail the facilities in Hyderabad and live here but it belongs to the people of Telangana,” he asserted.

Stating that the talk of Section 8 as another attempt of Seemandhra leaders to have their sway on Hyderabad even after bifurcation of the State, Chairman of Telangana Joint Action Committee M. Kodandaram said the people of Telangana would not tolerate any such attempt now. He suggested the TDP leaders not to test the patience of Telangana people on settled issues.

Film director N. Shankar said there is no instance of any law and order problem and holding film shootings without any inconvenience is an ample proof of social-tranquillity prevailing in Hyderabad as the film industry is mostly represented by people from Seemandhra.

Retired police officer Hanmanth Rao suggested the AP Government to take care of people living in Seemandra as the Telangana Government is efficient enough to ensure safety and security of all people living in Hyderabad.

Alleging that TDP leaders from Seemandhra are conspiring to create law and order problems in Hyderabad as part of their larger plans to create differences between people of Telangana and AP, honorary president of TNGOs’ Association G. Deviprasad Rao said there is a need to counter such efforts collectively.

Chairman of Telangana Press Academy A. Narayana and TRS leader V. Srinivas Goud said there is a conspiracy by AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in raising the issue of Section 8.
