Suspended home guard held for killing wife

A home guard of KPHB Colony police station under suspension, Mohan, was arrested by the L.B. Nagar police on Tuesday on the charge of murdering his wife.

According to L.B. Nagar Inspector P. Srinivas Reddy, the suspended home guard had doused his wife Pallavi, 22, in kerosene in their house at Mallikarjunanagar on Monday night and set her on fire. The victim died of burns.

He had been allegedly demanding additional dowry from Pallavi’s parents for quite some time and harassing his wife physically and mentally, the victim’s family members charged. Their marriage was performed two years ago. The couple has a child.

Hoax caller held

A mason accused of making a hoax bomb call was arrested by the Secunderabad railway police on Tuesday.

The accused, Ch. Ganesh, 25, hailing from Nagaram of Nizamabad district, admitted to have called up Hyderabad police control room on Friday last stating that a bomb would explode at Secunderabad railway station.

Based on his mobile phone number, the railway police caught and produced him before a court. He was remanded in judicial custody.
