Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahamood Ali on Thursday said that a programme for comprehensive survey of all lands in the State would be launched in February.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the Centre had already released Rs. 85 crore for the purpose out of Rs. 139 crore sanctioned by it. The programme would require a total expenditure of about Rs. 600 crore, Mr. Mahamood Ali, who is also the Revenue Minister, said. Comprehensive survey of lands was not done during the last 85 years, he noted.
The survey was necessary to identify the exact extent of government lands, endowments lands, Wakf lands and others and to know how much of it was encroached, the Minister said. Stating that buildings of Stamps and Registration Department at most of the places were in dilapidated condition, he said lands were being identified for construction of new offices. The department had already identified land for construction of registration offices at four places in the city and at 23 places in RR district. It was also planning to launch sale of non-judicial stamps and stamp papers through 900 post offices.
