Exercise will be an eye-opener for the rest of the country, says CM. He claimed that people volunteered to share their information with the enumerators and phone calls received by officials asking about the timings of survey teams’ visit to their habitations was an indication of their total cooperation and involvement.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao termed the overwhelming response to the Intensive Household Survey (IHS) taken up by his government on Tuesday as a “super-hit” exercise and a “slap” on those who have been trying to cast aspersions on it.

“It will be an eye-opener for the rest of the country and will have an impact on the Government of India as well as other States. One need not wonder if the other States take up similar surveys soon to map the status of their people,” an elated Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Tuesday evening, even as the survey was in progress.

Cooperation of people

He claimed that people volunteered to share their information with the enumerators and phone calls received by officials asking about the timings of survey teams’ visit to their habitations was an indication of their total cooperation and involvement. “I will hand over a ‘Golden Telangana’ to people in future, as promised, if they continue to cooperate with the government in this manner,” he said.

Stating that a majority of households were enumerated by the designated staff by 6 p.m. the Chief Minister said the exercise would continue till 8 p.m. and the small number of households which remain uncovered would be given another opportunity for enrolment later. The date of such an exercise would be decided by officials.
