It is generally believed that TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has put on hold his campaigning after addressing four election rallies before the Election Commission’s announcement of poll schedule fearing early exhaustion, as a strategy. Actually it is something else. Strong superstitions of the caretaker Chief Minister have made him hold his horses.
Yes, it is the major reason if party insiders are to be believed. After addressing one Praja Ashirvada Sabha at Husnabad in September first week — a day after dissolving the Assembly — the TRS president addressed three more such rallies at Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Wanaparthy in the first week of October. Soon after, he put on hold his election rallies.
Inauspicious period
Party sources says that Mr. Rao strongly believes that the period before Dasara and between Dasara and Deepavali does not augur well for him especially for embarking on any major exercise/work. “Besides, another strong reason for not campaigning during that period was the death anniversaries of his parents which came in the period,” the sources said adding that he went to seek the blessings of Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swami only after Deepavali.
“Now with the start of Karthika masam of the Telugu calender that falls during the winter, is a period that augurs well according to KCR’s belief and it would get better with the coming full moon day,” sources close to the TRS leadership said recently when contacted to know about the lull in campaigning by the party chief.
Accordingly, Mr. Rao is planning to resume his election rallies from November 20.
Guiding others
“Although the party chief has not addressed election rallies after October first week, he has been touch with the already announced party candidates over phone and guiding them on electioneering.
He has also been addressing the discontent by speaking to those who were disappointed at not getting the party ticket, either directly or through his trouble shooters,” the sources explained.
Now, with the Congress announcing its first list of 75 candidates and the final list expected in a day or two with the finalisation of seat-sharing with allies Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Communist Party of India (CPI), the party leadership would focus on reworking poll strategies before resuming the campaigning, the sources added.
