A 25-year-old person who was accused of snatching gold chains from women in RTC buses attempted suicide by slashing his neck with a blade on the court premises at Upparpally in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.

Police arrested Syed Feroz for his alleged involvement in six chain snatching and theft cases that were reported in Rajendranagar police station limits three months ago. He was lodged in Cherlapally jail. Police brought him to the court complex at Upparpally this morning to record his statement in connection with the pending cases.

Accompanied by the police escort, Feroz was on his way to the court when he tried to end his life. The escort policemen struggled with him before taking the blade away. Feroz was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Osmania General Hospital. It is not known how he came in possession of the blade.
