Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu released Modati Patham (The first lesson), a book authored by educationist Chukka Ramaiah here on Monday.
Releasing the first copies of the book, the Vice-President congratulated Mr. Ramaiah for having imparted good quality education to generations of IIT aspirants.
Speaking to a gathering of Ministers and politicians, the Vice-President said: Ramaiah as a teacher ensured that rich and poor students make it to India’s premier technological institutions. Mr. Ramaiah’s experiences as a teacher will serve as a guide for other teachers. This book will become a reference text for them.
Mr. Naidu also stressed that students should take pride in their mother tongue and respect their teachers and elders. Students should also express love for their country, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who was also present at the book release function, said that Chukka Ramaiah worked tirelessly to make IIT entrance accessible to all meritorious students. He announced that the State Government will distribute the book to all State libraries and see that each teacher has a copy.
