The DLF scandal has come handy for the government to reclaim the land at a prime location, which had been leased out at a very nominal price to GSG Constructions. Days after the police registered a case against GS Gupta Private Limited, the government moved swiftly and took possession over the 5.61 acre land at Basheerbagh where Gandhi Medical College stood once.

The land had been leased to GSG Constructions in 2006 for a 33-year period for a lease rent of Rs.4 crore per annum. The company was also to share the revenue earned out of its commercial operations in the land site, but so far the company has not taken up any activity. The company, it is alleged, had taken an unspecified amount of money from DLF promising to hand over the Gandhi Medical College land.

As the company did not pay the money due to the government, it was issued several notices and later it was declared as a defaulter. The market value of the land is estimated to be around Rs.300 crore.

Ritz Hotel

A heritage structure which housed the famous Hotel Ritz is crying for attention now.

The 6.5 acre land site at one of the prime localities in Adarshnagar had been leased out to a private company Varsha Hill Fort Resorts 13 years ago, but the company does not seem to have initiated any steps to either protect the heritage structure or take up any commercial activity on the premises.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation too, which claims to possess the much-wanted land, has not made proper use of the precious land.
