A team from brewery group Carlsberg will visit Hyderabad soon scouting for start-ups who could help it reduce the water required to make beer.

The proposed visit comes in the backdrop of IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao’s meeting with Carlsberg CEO Cees ’t Hart. During the discussion, the issue of using lesser quantity of water came up. The company is keen on having a manufacturing process where water consumption is less.

The Minister suggested to the CEO on Carlsberg exploring the possibility of engaging with the start-ups, through the T-Hub incubator, to find a solution to the challenge.

Mentioning about his meeting, Mr. Rao told a programme at T-Hub on Monday start-ups could play a major role in addressing the problems of large corporations. Later, Industries and IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, to queries from presspersons, said Carlsberg has a manufacturing footprint in Medak and keen on taking help from the start-ups in innovation.

People from its head office in India were expected to come to Hyderabad soon, he said. T-Hub COO Srinivas Kollipara said when it happens, for Carlsberg it would be the first such partnership with a start-up in India.
