STAR Hospitals, Banjara Hills launched its own full-fledged Gastroenterology Department formally here on Wednesday after treating the patients for the last six months.
The aim of STAR Hospitals starting the full-fledged department was to extend ethical and advanced healthcare services for patients suffering from GI disorders of all kinds at affordable cost, said Hospitals MD and Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon M.Gopichand.
The Department inaugurated by Bhongir MP and a laparoendoscopic surgeon Narsaiah Goud will offer comprehensive care for conditions related to stomach, liver, pancreas, intestines. The Gastroenterology team comprised four highly experienced doctors- E.Ramanjaneyulu, Anandakumar, Nalin Kanth and Ravindranath.
The city has seen high incidence of medical gastro-intestinal disorders rather than surgical cases and 90 per cent of such disorders could be corrected with life style changes. Yet most of the time, patients were subjected to invasive investigations like endoscopy and colonoscopy even without any indicative symptoms, said Dr.Anand Kumar who heads the department. “Our emphasis is on ethical practice and discouraging uncalled for investigations,” he said.
