Special teams to keep tab on illegal constructions

The statement of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on action against unauthorised constructions shows 386 properties covered by City Civil Court stay and another 76 by the High Court stay, while 446 others were demolished and action awaited in case of 718 properties.

While most new building permission pleas came from emerging locations in the city’s west such as Gachibowli, Madhapur, Tellapur and others, complaints about unauthorised constructions were pouring in from areas of Malkajgiri and Alwal.

“We have decided to form special teams to visit areas like these from where complaints are on rise for necessary action,” said an official.

For the BPS too, the civic body has taken a decision to initiate action after December 31, the deadline set by Commissioner Somesh Kumar to clear all pending works related to the regularisation.

“We will issue the statutory notices to the BPS rejected cases and then start demolitions,” Mr. Rose said.

Under the BPS offer, nearly 1.40 lakh applications were approved while the number of rejects stood at more than 52,000.

For the BPS approved cases, the officials said that in most instances all the required processes were completed and a few remained pending for want of issues to be settled.

“There are cases such as fire ‘no objection requirements’ and others and some time and consideration are being given to them,” he said.
