Sanitation staff thank CM for pay hike

The State government has turned its focus on problems of workers in other municipal bodies in Telangana following the GHMC workers calling off their strike in response to the pay hike announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the issue with the officials concerned on Friday and discussed several proposals. The Chief Minister asked the officials to come with their recommendations on Saturday so that a decision could be taken.

Earlier in the day, when a delegation of GHMC workers called on the Chief Minister in the camp office to thank him for increase their salaries, he reiterated his government’s commitment towards welfare of all sections, including workers. He told that that the government would design and implement several scheme to transform Hyderabad into a global city.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao explained the steps initiated for the GHMC permissions for constructions without any scope for corruption and assured that the government would increase the salaries of GHMC workers along with increase in its income.

Alleging that some Andhra parties were behind the GHMC workers’ strike, he said some unions had instigated the strike with an eye on getting the credit for salary hike.

2BHK for workers

He told the delegation that the government had given better increase in salaries to municipal staff than the State government and RTC employees. He reiterated his commitment to improve education and health facilities and 2-BHK houses to municipal workers.

The homeless would get priority in the new houses to be constructed in areas, including Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, he noted.
