Chief Executive Officer P. Bramhanand Rao of GVK-EMRI, the 108 ambulance service provider, on Saturday informed that the demand of protesting employees to hire them as government employees is not a matter that EMRI can deliberate on.

“With respect to other demands, including the demand to reduce daily work hours from 12 to 8 hours, we conducted a survey that showed employees preferred working 12-hour shifts,” Mr. Rao said adding that 12-hour shifts gives employees an off every four days while eight-hour shifts help employees earn holidays every six days. Staff were told to resume duties on or before August 19 or else they would be terminated from service.
