An Army soldier was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a teenager in Ammugudda on Monday.

Trimulgherry police said Brajesh Kumar Yadav, a native of Bihar posted as a sepoy at Signal Regimentary, sought to take advantage of the 19-year-old and attacked her male friend when they took shelter under a tree near Ammuguda Railway Gate to escape the rain.

After attacking her friend, the soldier attempted to drag the girl into the bushes.

A constable came to the teen’s rescue after she called the police on her phone and chased the accused, who tried to flee after assaulting the cop. However, he was finally restrained and booked.
