The two-day Green Building Congress-2019 got under way in the city on Thursday with a message by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan about paying attention to small things.
“We should be concerned about our immediate environment. Taking care of the leaking tap, not wasting water while washing hands, and other such gestures will go a long way in helping the environment. The Prime Minister has said that the time for talk is over and we need to act now,” said the Governor asking for steps towards a lower carbon footprint movement.
Dr. Soundararajan lauded the efforts of the Telangana government in increasing the green cover. “We should start enjoying nature. We should spend time in nature and only then we will appreciate it,” she said, quoting a Tamil saying.
In his inaugural address, industrialist Jamshyd Godrej highlighted the climate change issues and the positive impact of green buildings. “We currently have seven billion square feet of the registered green building footprint. We are on the way to the 10 billion mark,” said Mr. Godrej.
