Sunayana Dumala, wife of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, the Indian techie from the city who was killed last year in the U.S., welcomed a Kansas court’s decision sentencing the killer Adam Purinton for life.

In a statement that was read at the sentencing, Ms. Dumala recounted the horror of learning about her husband’s death on February 22, 2017, while questioning Purinton’s motive for shooting at Olathe bar that left Kuchibhotla dead and his friend injured. “Our dreams of having kids and raising them as responsible adults, will you be able to bring that back for us? The pain of my parents who had to witness their daughter’s life being shattered, will you be able to reduce any of that,” she asked of Purinton.

Earlier this year, Purinton had pleaded guilty to murdering Kuchibhotla and attempting to murder his colleague Alok Madasani.

“My Srinu had never hurt anyone and only had love and respect for others, but he had to lose his life because of your hatred. It is because of only those values that he had instilled in me that I am able to write this. I hope in the years that you must spend in the jail you will one day realise the magnitude of your mistake and work towards your penance,” the statement read.
