Police said that the gang members, posing as vigilance department officers, intercepted an oil tanker near Yamnampet crossroad in Ghatkesar on August 11 and assaulted the manager and threatened him before taking away ₹ 6 lakh from the vehicle. The accused were identified as Shaik Fazalur Rahman (42), Booshan Harish (30), Nunavath Tulasi (33), Bonalu Bharat (24), Birapaka Srinu (30) and Vikkurthi Vinod Kumar (24).

Held on rape charge

A teenager from Vishwanathpuram village in Vikarabad was arrested by police on Wednesday for allegedly raping a minor girl.

The accused, a daily wage earner, on Tuesday abducted the nine-year-old mentally challenged victim and took her inside a cattle shed, where he forced himself on her. The victim’s mother saw her coming out with feeble cries of pain, Tandur in-charge DSP B. Ravinder Reddy said. Soon, she rushed inside the shed and saw the accused, who managed to flee. He was arrested later.
