Opportunities for Singapore firms to invest in various sectors in Telangana discussed

A delegation led by Consul General of Singapore in Chennai Pong Kok Tian called on IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao here on Tuesday and discussed opportunities for Singapore firms to invest in various sectors, including information technology, urban infrastructure, pharma and tourism.

The Minister highlighted to the delegation the investor-friendly policy measures of the State government and how Telangana had emerged as a favourite destination for globally well-known firms over the past five years. He assured the government’s assistance to companies desirous of setting up their facilities in the State, a release said.

Proposing a meeting with the heads of Singapore companies looking for opportunities to invest in Telangana, Mr. Rao said Singapore’s Surbana Jurong was preparing the master plan for Hyderabad Pharma City. He urged the Consul General to visit Telangana’s industrial parks and start-up incubators such as T-Hub to understand the ecosystem that exist in the State. He also sought assistance from the Consul General’s office in inviting major pharma companies to BioAsia 2020.

Mr. Tian appreciated the policies of Telangana government and said such investor-friendly policies were bound to encourage Singapore companies to invest in the State. Vice-Consul Ivan Tan and IT and Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan were present during the meeting, the release from the Minister’s office said.
