This World Environment day, apart from many initiatives being made to ban single-use plastic, something else also happened. A musical video was released on the occasion by Bhamla foundation. Composed by Shaan, penned by Swanand Kirkire and choreographed by Shiamak Davar, the anthem brings together singers like Shaan, Shiamak Davar, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Ayushmann Khurana, Kanika Kapoor, Shankar Mahadevan, Armaan Malik, Shekhar Ravjiani and Neeti Mohan.
The video shows how the abuse of plastic is harming our environment, the birds, animals and us. The music video opens with Shankar Mahadevan singing the first lines of the plastic ban anthem followed by singer Shaan:
Tik Tik, Tik Tik, Tik Tik
Kasam Ye Khaye Re
Tik Tik, Tik Tik, Tik Tik
Plastic Tik Na Paye Re...
As the video rolls, graphics of harmful effects of plastic come up. Apart from being an anthem, it is also an awareness video that shows statistics about the amount of plastic that is being used by us in our day-to-day lives. To further treat the video as the wake up call, and use it like an educational and informative piece, it is enhanced with graphics that read ‘a plastic bag takes 500 years to decompose’, ‘over 100000 marine animals are killed’ by consuming plastic.
Peppy number
Actual footage of the pile of plastic on our water bodies look quite alarming, but then ‘together we can change this,’ is the message it gives. To make it peppy and easy to follow important pointers of the lyrics have been used as rap.
... Thaily, botal, straw itiadi, zarre zarre mein phailadi na ghat paaye, na mit paaye reh reh ke toxic ban jaaye, issey chhutkara toh nahi per hai ik saral upaye re .. single use plastic ko ham kardein bye bye re
Shiamak sings
The video also features Shiamak Davar singing after a long time.
The peppy number with a message can definitely match what Michael Jackson did to Earth Song. The song was promoted with #BeatPlasticPollution.
