The State Disaster Management Department has embarked upon a unique initiative to keep citizens informed about the prevailing temperatures in different parts of the city.
The department started displaying the likely temperatures in key areas on the variable message signboards, presently placed at over a dozen locations across the city.
The signboards display the possible maximum temperatures in different areas enabling the people to take precautionary measures. Disaster Management Commissioner R.V. Chandravadan told The Hindu that the frequency of the display was currently once in one hour.
Efforts are being made to ensure that the frequency is increased so that people take a note of the prevailing weather conditions and plan their programmes accordingly. Steps are also being taken to ensure that maximum possible temperature in the respective areas is displayed on all the digital signboards operated by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
