SI succumbs to injuries

V.C. Bijju, 30, Sub-Inspector with Special Operations Team of Cyberabad police, who was injured in a road accident at Hayathnagar two days ago, died on Monday night. He along with three other SIs, Ramesh Naik, B. Venkatesh and Ranjit, and their friend Subrahmanyam, were travelling in a Maruti Swift when it overturned after hitting a heap of mud on roadside near Pasumamula village in Hayathnagar on Sunday night, the police said .

Killed while crossing road

U. Laxmamma, 54, died on Sunday after she was hit by an autorickshaw while crossing the road at Kaviripally village in Hayathnagar. She suffered serious wounds and was rushed to Osmania General Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment, the police said on Tuesday.

Car knocks down woman

A car fatally knocked down a woman, M. Shabbamma, at Road no. 6 in Filmnagar of Banjara Hills, the police said on Tuesday. The car also hit another woman, Laxmi, who sustained serious wounds. The victim was a resident of Durganagar in Filmnagar.

3 arrested, ganja seized

The Madhapur police on Tuesday arrested three persons, Dileep Rao, 30, of Patrikanagar in Madhapur, an ex-security guard, 30, Saleem Khan, 52, of Pahadisarieff and Sharma, 27, of Jummerat Bazar and seized ‘ganja' weighing 900 gm from them. On a tip-off, the police first caught Rao, who admitted that he was selling ganja packets weighing 5 gm to 10 gm. Based on his confession, they arrested the other two. Khan revealed that he used to procure ganja from his acquaintances in Warangal and other districts.

2 held for ‘cheating'

The Commissioner's Task Force (Central) officials on Tuesday arrested two persons, B.V.R. Prasad, 43, and K.H. Badri, 42, who were allegedly duping people by assuring them of selling antiques at cheap rates.
