May 05, 2017 12:34 am | Updated 12:35 am IST - WARANGAL URBAN DISTRICT

The students of erstwhile Warangal district fared well as usual in the recently released SSC results. Newly formed Jangaon and Warangal urban district witnessed a pass percentage of 93.56 and 93.48 respectively while Bhupalpalli district registered 86.69%, Warangal rural 86.58% and Mahabubabad secured 80.89%.

Students from private schools excelled in the examination while those from government schools did not lag as the districts officials focused on ensuring good pass percentage.

According to DEO, S. Srinivasa Chary in Warangal Urban District a total of 17,446 students appeared for the SSC examination. Of the 8,188 girls who appeared 7,672 passed while among 9,258 boys who appeared, 8,637 passed achieving 93.29% pass. The urban district secured fourth position in the State.

Mr. Chary who is also incharge of DEO of Mahabubabad district said in the newly formed district, a total of 10,087 students appeared for SSC and 8,158 passed the examination. Of the total 5,206 who appeared 4,286 passed while of the 4,879 boys who appeared 3,872 passed thus securing a total pass percentage of 80.89. The district secured 22nd position in the state.

The erstwhile Warangal district had a glorious past and it stood first in the State several times. However, due to reorganization of districts and allocation of staff, many mandals lacked the mandal education officer and consequently the strict monitoring. The officials organized special classes for the students appearing for SSC examination and achieved reasonably good results though not exceptionally well. Many government schools fared on par with the private schools.
