Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a dharna in front of the Government High School at NSP Camp Colony here on Wednesday demanding urgent steps to drain out stagnant rainwater from the premises of the school. The demonstrators displayed a banner denouncing the recurring problem of water-logging on the premises of the school every year during the rainy season.

SFI district vice-president Gayathri said the school situated in the heart of the town was beset by poor infrastructure and lack of basic facilities.

The schoolchildren continue to grapple with the problem of water-logging due to the apathy of the government agencies concerned to plug the deficiencies in school infrastructure, she rued.

She demanded that the stagnant rainwater be drained out from the school premises immediately and a lasting solution to the persistent problem be worked out to avoid inconvenience to students.
