A motorcyclist snatched away a bag containing Rs. 7 lakh from a woman who was pillion-riding on a bike being driven by her husband at a stone’s throwaway from Vanasthalipuram police station on Friday.

Janaki Ramaiah, an employee of Secretariat, and wife Bharati were heading to the Sub-Registrar’s office at Vanasthalipuram carrying the cash when the unidentified snatcher struck around noon.

Comes from behind

The couple rode past the police station building when the snatcher came from behind, grabbed the bag from Mrs. Bharati and sped away.

Trailing the couple

“The offender has been trailing the couple from Tarnaka. We have some clues. We will catch him soon,” a police official said.
